Your First Therapeutic Massage Visit in Manalapan or Staten Island: What to Expect
A first visit is 45 minutes: a 15-minute evaluation, then a 30-minute therapeutic massage. Here is what happens in each part, and how to get the most out of it.
If you've never had clinical massage before, or you've only had spa massages, it helps to know what a first visit looks like. Here's what happens when you book with me at either studio.
Before you arrive
When you call, I'll ask briefly what's going on, so I can tell whether massage is the right next step or whether you should see a doctor first. Wear or bring comfortable clothing. If you have recent imaging reports, a list of medications, or notes from your doctor or physical therapist, bring them along. For a No-Fault case, bring your prescription and claim details, and call ahead so we can confirm eligibility.
The first visit: 45 minutes
A first visit is 45 minutes total, $100:
A 15-minute evaluation. We talk about what hurts, when it started, what makes it better or worse, and what you've already tried. Then I look at how you move: how you bend, turn your head, raise your arms and stand. This is where we find out that a knee problem might be coming from the hip, or that headaches might be coming from the upper back.
A 30-minute therapeutic massage. The session targets what we found. Depending on the problem, it may draw on deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, cupping, or gentler Swedish strokes. You'll be draped properly throughout, and you're in charge of the pressure. Say so if you want more or less.
After the first visit
We'll talk about what I found and what I'd suggest: how often to come in, anything to change at home or at work, and whether another provider should be involved. Follow-up sessions are 30 minutes ($75) or 60 minutes ($150). The full details are on the pricing page.
There are no packages to buy and no long commitments. If one session does the job, that's a good result.
Who you'll see
Every session is with me, Aleksey Khomenko. I'm a Licensed Massage Therapist in New Jersey and New York and an AMTA member, with more than 30 years of hands-on experience, including sports medicine and rehabilitation training in Ukraine and a background as a competitive weightlifter.
